Hip Hop Weekly features Lead Alliance's Kajmir Royale

Kajmir Royale is featured in Volume 4, Issue 3 June 28, 2009 issue of Hip Hop Weekly on page 65 “Behind the Beats”. Although the picture that went along with the feature was a misprint by the publishers, Kajmir is in the same section with Ace Hood, Flo Rida, and OJ Da Juiceman. The article reads below:

HIP HOP WEEKLY: How’d you get your start?

KAJMIR: I’m an artist first and producer second, so when I found myself needing beats I didn’t have a name that enabled me to go to established producers, so I had to learn to make my own tracks.

What gave you the confidence to think that you could make it successfully?
I felt that if I could create my own world, and make my tracks to cater to my style then I could actually get myself out there. So, I learned how to produce in everybody’s style first; from rap, to reggae, to R&B, Crunk, Rock… every style. Then after I learned every style, I just started flipping it and mixing all those styles to create my own sound. It sounds like a mixture of different genres but has a solid hip hop foundation.

When you began, did you have any familiarity with instruments or production programs?
No. My friend had this program called Reason and he said “You should check this out.” I know a lot of people are using a program called Fruity Loops, [but] I didn’t know anything about that. I started messing with the Reason program and my first beats were terrible. LOL! But as I learned, I studied the pros.

So you’re first major placement was a song you wrote and produced for yourself?
Yes. LOL! When I look at the way Kanye West came in the game; he was a producer first then he picked up the rapping later on. It must’ve been tremendous for him to just be sitting in the studio and wanting to rap.

What are you working on right now?
Right now I’m working with a production team, we’re in a 3500 square foot production house in Colorado Springs and we’re making tracks for record labels. The agency that represents me is Lead Alliance Media Group and they’re shopping my tracks to the industry. I’m working with an up and coming singer named Nina Luv, [and] she’s opened up for Lil Wayne. For more on Kajmir Royale go to www.KajmirRoyale.com
